Health Care is one of the major issues causing concern as one ages. To ‘age with grace’ it is important that we regularly undergo health check-up, do some exercises , take interest in creative activities, reading, developing hobbies etc. this will keep us healthy, active and in sound mind. However, we normally tend to ignore sound advice and either avoid or postpone getting regular health checkup and visit hospitals . when we seriously fall ill, we usually take the easy way out by saying ‘ when I need I will do it’
The cost of medical consultation and investigation is also increasing day by day. Full health checkup cost anywhere between Rs 4000 to Rs 6000.
Keeping the need and importance of regular health check-up and its increasing cost in vie, VCF has been periodically organizing free medical camps for their members, which are also open to their friends and relatives.
This year on Jan 18th 2013, VCF organized an eye camp at ‘Wavikar Eye Institute ‘ ,around 38 VCF members had availed this facility at the eye care camp
The 2nd camp was for ‘ Diabetes , Eye,ENT’, was organized with association with ‘ Dr Karkhanis Super Specialty Hospital’ on 3rd march 2013. More than 135 VCF members had attended this camp which was well organized. We are thankful to Dr Shefali Karkhanis (Diabetes) Dr Amar Karkhanis (Eye) and Dr Bharat Gupta assisted by Dr Pangam(ENT). Also, Ms Deepali Bhosale (audiologist),Dr Trupti Deo (Physiotherapist) gave their valuable advice and services. The members were guided and help by VCF volunteers.
VCF future planning is to organize cardiac (heart),orthopedic (Bones/Joints) and pathology (blood checkup)camps. Also we will be organizing a special camp for VCF lady members. this will be very important camp for detection at breast cancer and ovarian abnormalities. I would sincerely urge every VCf lady member to avail this exclusive facility at special rates. The camp will be held at suburban diagnostics’ in June 2013.the package will cover Mammography, Sonography, Pap smear and C 125 tests will be qualified doctors and technicians.
My appeal to all VCF members is to take full advantage of these camps and participate in large numbers. These camps are free at cost and are conducted by eminent doctors in their specialty. If one were to attend all camp through the year, then there is no need of SR Citizens spending money in annual medical examination and will be taken care of the health problem.
VCF in its endeavor to provide medical treatment at concessional rates to Sr citizen, have been approaching the local medical Specialist, Hospitals, Diagnostic Centers, Chemists etc. VCF has in their panel very eminent doctors, hospitals, pathology labs and chemists. Its members have been getting concessions and best services from these empaneled ‘partners’.VCF helpline number is 9619354670 available from 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs Monday to Friday.
